That comes from a broadcast by the Green family spokeswoman Barbara Neßler and women’s spokeswoman Meri Disoski on Wednesday. The legal claim is valid until the end of December; the federal government bears the reimbursement of costs. “Unfortunately, the pandemic is not over for families,” said Neßler. “I am glad that we can restore security for parents.”
Just last week, the Ministry of Labor announced that it would reintroduce the special care period on October 1st. The previous rule expired in July. For the first time, the special care period was possible from March 2020 and has so far been extended three times.
Quarantine entitlement
The claim applies, for example, when school children have to be in quarantine and are cared for at home. The fact that the new regulation only came after school started caused a lot of criticism. SPÖ health spokesman Philip Kucher referred to the many classes in quarantine. “The special care time must apply retrospectively from the start of school,” it said on Wednesday in a broadcast.
The Chamber of Labor of Lower Austria also called for the same the day before. This wish is now coming true. “We are very happy about this green success,” said Neßler and Disoski. “We are thus supporting many families who would otherwise have been left in the lurch by October.”
