Asylum, Corona, Climate – the two-day retreat of the FP National Council Club in Linz for “autumn work” was a thematic all-round attack against the current policy of the turquoise-green coalition. “We are the only opposition,” said club chairman Herbert Kickl on Wednesday at the joint press conference with governor Manfred Haimbuchner; the SPÖ is a “hybrid party”.
The federal and state party leaders accused the government of “failure” not only with Corona, but also with border protection. Both took the case of the Somali who is suspected of murdering two women on Monday as an opportunity: “At the same time, the Minister of the Interior (Karl Nehammer, VP, note) has nothing better to say than that Austria has to take in 30,000 illegal migrants this year “, sounded Kickl. Nehammer failed just like the EU: “My model is fortress Europe,” said Kickl. It is about “self-determination” – also in the fight against the corona pandemic.
Once again Kickl saw “vaccination pressure” and “health apartheid”. The new step-by-step plan (see report above) is a “new, chaotic, evidence-free package of measures”; it is “always the same measures in a new mixture”. The aim is to “frustrate people so much that they say that I will throw myself into the needle”.
Kickl renewed the demand for extensive antibody tests and “early use of drugs that exist”. The measures were exhausted in quarantine and “treatment only when you need the hospital”. “To date there are no medical guidelines for sick people,” Haimbuchner criticizes the health policy.
Criticism from the ÖVP
Sharp criticism of the FPÖ came from the ÖVP on Thursday. “Without the anti-vaccination propaganda of the FPÖ, the vaccination rate would be higher in Austria and we could take further easing steps – such as in Denmark,” said Agriculture Minister Elisabeth Köstinger. “Upper Austria is facing difficult challenges. That is why we need a course of solidarity and cooperation and not splitters and fear-makers,” commented VP regional manager Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer.
