Opinion Trending: New Survey Keeps Union Hope Alive

Not even a week until the general election. The Union is still hoping for a turnaround in the polls. Now Insa’s opinion trend keeps hope alive.

Almost a week before the federal election, the Union gains in an Insa survey, but it is still behind the SPD. The CDU and CSU would therefore come together to 22 percent (plus 1.5 percent). The SPD lost one point and reached 25 percent, as the survey published on Monday on behalf of “Bild” showed. AfD (11 percent) and FDP (12 percent) each lose half a point compared to the previous week. Left (6.5 percent) and Greens (15 percent) keep their values.

Among the possible coalitions, a red-black alliance with a total of 47 percent would have a parliamentary majority. A Jamaica coalition of CDU / CSU, Greens and FDP would also have a parliamentary majority with a combined 49 percent, as would red-green-red (46.5 percent). A traffic light coalition made up of the SPD, FDP and the Greens would add up to 52 percent.

Surveys are always fraught with uncertainty

In principle, election surveys only reflect the opinion at the time of the survey and are not a prognosis for the outcome of the election. They are also always fraught with uncertainties, including the statistical margin of error, which in this case is given as plus minus 2.5 percentage points. Among other things, declining party ties and increasingly short-term voting decisions make it more difficult for polling institutes to weight the data collected.

According to the information, a total of 2054 citizens were surveyed between September 17th and 20th for the current Insa opinion trend of “Bild”.
