The Munich Regional Court has banned the right-wing extremist party “Der III. Weg” from hanging election posters with the inscription “Hang the Greens” nationwide. The reason: The slogan should be understood as a call to violence.
Shortly before the federal election on September 26th, the district court of Munich I ordered the right-wing extremist splinter party “Der III. Weg” to hang up election posters with the slogan “Hang the Greens!” banned nationwide. Should the splinter party appeal against the decision, it would have to be negotiated publicly.
Posters in Zwickau were allowed to stay
Last week, the administrative court in Chemnitz decided that identical posters in Zwickau, Saxony, may remain subject to certain conditions. The city of Zwickau had previously ordered that the posters must be removed.
The right-wing extremists in Zwickau successfully defended themselves against this with an urgent motion. The posters are therefore only allowed to hang at a distance of at least a hundred meters from those of the Greens. The case is currently with the Bautzen Higher Administrative Court, a decision of the court is still pending.
The police hung up the posters in Leipzig
In the district of North Saxony, two election posters with the inscription “Hang the Greens” were confiscated last week, as the Leipzig Public Prosecutor announced on Monday. After reports were reported, the police removed the posters, and the public prosecutor then applied to the Leipzig District Court for their confiscation.
The investigating judge granted this last Friday and justified the decision with an initial suspicion of public incitement to criminal offenses, sedition and approval of criminal offenses.
