The traffic light factions want the Bundestag elections in Berlin to be partially repeated because of the numerous shortcomings. However, a quick recommendation from the Election Review Committee is unlikely for the time being.
At its meeting this Thursday, the Bundestag’s Election Review Committee will not yet decide on a recommendation for the partial repetition of the Bundestag elections in Berlin.
It is very extensive to incorporate the current change requests into the 200-page recommended resolution, said SPD MP Johannes Fechner in Berlin. He is a member of the Election Review Committee. You want to be absolutely sure that the recommendation for a decision is error-free.
The traffic light factions want the Bundestag elections from September last year to be repeated in Berlin because of the numerous shortcomings in 431 of the 2,256 electoral districts. This was announced by their first parliamentary directors – Katja Mast (SPD), Irene Mihalic (Greens) and Johannes Vogel (FDP) – on Wednesday. A joint statement also stated that the Election Review Committee should make a corresponding recommendation to the Bundestag.
According to Fechner, the committee should now meet for a special session on November 7th and decide on the recommendation to the Bundestag. This should then decide on November 11th.
