France: Macron’s vaccination certificate circulates online

A mistake or an action with a political background? Emmanuel Macron’s vaccination certificate appeared online.

French President Emmanuel Macron’s corona vaccination certificate has surfaced on social media.

The QR code with Macron’s name and date of birth as well as his vaccination information ended up on the network due to misconduct, it was said on Tuesday from the Élysée Palace in Paris. It is still unclear whether the code will be exchanged. According to the Élysée, France’s health workers have access to a centralized system of corona vaccination certificates. Macron’s QR code was accidentally or deliberately circulated from among these staff.

Macron had imposed strict rules on France in the fight against a fourth corona wave in July. He wanted to promote vaccinations. Visiting restaurants, bars and museums as well as trips by long-distance train are now only permitted with the so-called health pass. In addition to a corona vaccination, a proof of recovery or a negative corona test counts as a health passport. After his corona infection in December, Macron was vaccinated in May.

More than 70 percent of people in France are now fully immunized against the coronavirus. The number of new infections continues to fall and was most recently around 76 per 100,000 inhabitants nationwide over seven days.
