“Basically, everything that keeps the infection process under control is to be welcomed,” said Köstinger after the Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday. Like Maurer, she referred to the ongoing discussions between the social partners.
In the catering industry, too, the implementation of the 3G rule was very positive, emphasized Köstinger. “We hear that the talks are very constructive and positive, we have to wait for the talks at social partner level.”

Maurer also emphasized that the question had to be clarified at the social partner level. “We have to do everything we can to get the infections down,” she agreed with Köstinger.
The day before the trade union federation (ÖGB) and the Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ) had confirmed that a 3G obligation was being discussed at work, and both sides were open to such considerations. The discussions in the Ministry of Health were also welcomed: the aim is to increase the vaccination rate, “it is therefore good that the social partners want to agree on a solution”.

Italy is the model for this measure. Last week it was decided to introduce “3G” at the workplace from October 15th. From then on one should only be allowed to come to the workplace vaccinated, recovered or tested.
