The US congressional elections are hotly contested this year. In some places, voters are already allowed to vote – including in Joe Biden’s home state of Delaware.
US President Joe Biden cast his ballot just over a week before the congressional elections. Biden made use of the early voting option on Saturday in the state of Delaware. He was accompanied by his 18-year-old granddaughter Natalie, who was allowed to vote for the first time. The election is about a fundamental decision between two very different visions for the country, Biden emphasized after voting.
In the midterm elections on November 8, as is customary every two years, the entire House of Representatives and some of the seats in the Senate will be voted on. In several states, voters can vote in advance not only by postal vote, but also in person.
Biden’s Democratic Party currently has narrow control of both houses of parliament. Previous polls give the Republicans, who are still dominated by ex-President Donald Trump and his like-minded people, a good chance of gaining a majority in the House of Representatives in the election. In the Senate, several potentially decisive races are considered extremely close.
