Norway is also lifting most of the corona restrictions

The outgoing Prime Minister Erna Solberg announced on Friday at a press conference in Oslo.

Among other things, the one-meter distance rule will no longer apply in the future, and the restrictions on participants in events and get-togethers will also no longer apply. Only the requirement to go into isolation in the event of corona disease remains. The entry restrictions will also be gradually lifted.

Almost 84 percent fully vaccinated

“Now the time has come. Now we will return to normal everyday life,” said Solberg after more than a year and a half with restrictions. The number of infections fell, as did the hospital admissions of corona patients. However, the pandemic is not over. It is therefore important that people get vaccinated against corona. According to the national health institute FHI, almost 84 percent of all adults in the country of 5.4 million people are fully vaccinated.

In a European comparison, Norway got through the pandemic relatively well. Solberg’s government reacted early and strictly to the corona crisis in spring 2020. Nevertheless, the Conservative was voted out of office in the general election a week and a half ago. Her successor will most likely be the Social Democrat Jonas Gahr Store, exploratory talks are currently underway with possible coalition partners.
