Elon Musk had repeatedly expressed himself politically in the past. Shortly before the midterm elections in the USA, he showed his solidarity with the Republicans – on Twitter, of all places.
The new owner of the short message service Twitter, Elon Musk, campaigned for ex-President Donald Trump’s Republicans before the important midterm elections in the USA.
“Shared power curbs the worst excesses of either party, so I recommend voting for a Republican Congress when the presidency is Democratic,” the billionaire wrote on Twitter on Monday.
This Tuesday, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and about a third of the 100 seats in the Senate will be decided. US President Joe Biden’s Democrats are at risk of losing their already narrow majority in Parliament.
Musk had repeatedly made political statements in the past and expressed solidarity with the Republican Party, which is still dominated by Trump. In May he declared that the Democrats had become a “party of division and hatred”. He has also announced that he will investigate a complaint from the right-wing political spectrum that Twitter is being censored in favor of “the left”. Twitter should not favor either side, he wrote.
