NEOS started the final campaign tour in Linz

At the same time it was the starting signal for the final tour of their top candidate Felix Eypeltauer through the communities. In addition to short speeches by Bundestag chief Beate Meinl-Reisinger and top candidate Felix Eypeltauer in front of around 50 functionaries and supporters, there were croissants, coffee and balloons.

Meinl-Reisinger stood out in a dirndl among the officials in pink polos and sweatshirts. “The Felix Eypeltauer-Gedächtnis-Dirndl”, she explained with a smile at the beginning of her speech. The background to this: Meinl-Reisinger and Eypeltauer swapped clothes for the “Politics in New Gwand” advertising subject – she wears his suit, he her dirndl.

“There is an urgent need for a breath of fresh air in the Upper Austrian state parliament,” said Meinl-Reisinger hoping that the pinks will move into the state parliament in Upper Austria and mainly spoke about the government’s corona management. She sharply criticized that Upper Austria was at the bottom of the vaccination quota: “You haven’t brought anything together.” The pandemic will be carried on the back of the children because the adults do not get vaccinated. The slogan “Freedom” posted by other parties in this context has nothing to do with the understanding of the NEOS to do with the word: “Not getting vaccinated is just irresponsible.” Freedom is the most important core element of NEOS, but I always have something to do with responsibility.

After Meinl-Reisinger, top candidate Eypeltauer came on stage to loud applause and once again emphasized the goal of the Pinkies “to be the only free opposition force who is only obliged to the citizens and who must watch the others” to enter the state parliament . “So that everything doesn’t go on as before.” After Eypeltauer had also criticized the previous government’s corona management, he named the keywords climate, education, better child care and mobility as the most important topics.

Then the top candidate sprinted to a pink car placed next to the stage – covered with election advertising. There was a short stop for the photographers, then Eypeltauer set off on the final tour through all the districts. In the evening it’s back to Linz for a tour of the city center. The board of directors went on to a retreat in Linz – tomorrow, Sunday, everyone will come together again “to celebrate properly”.

the NEOS take their second attempt to enter the state parliament at the polls in Upper Austria. In 2015, they just failed the four percent hurdle with 3.5 percent. This time, the leap should succeed, which according to pollers is likely but not certain. The electoral goal is the move-in or club strength. A seat of government in the proportional government will not work out, that is how the Pinkies see it themselves.
