US midterm elections: Many deniers of the US presidential election 2020 prevail

Former US President Trump has maintained his allegations of voter fraud to this day. Dozens of election deniers were able to assert themselves in the “Midterms”.

In the first few hours of counting in the US midterm elections, dozens of Republican candidates who had openly doubted the outcome of the 2020 presidential election prevailed.

According to a list by the Washington Post, 133 so-called election deniers, including many members of Congress, won their votes in the first few hours after the first polling stations closed. Many other races were initially still open.

The newspaper and the renowned US think tank Brookings had previously identified around 300 Republican candidates for various mandates and offices in the federal or state governments who shared former Republican President Donald Trump’s allegations of electoral fraud and sowed doubts about the course of elections.

Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to Democrat Joe Biden. To this day, Trump refuses to admit defeat. The Republican continues to spread unsubstantiated claims that massive voter fraud robbed him of a victory at the time. And Trump also cast doubt on the trustworthiness of the midterm elections on Tuesday.

The “midterm” elections in the middle of Biden’s term in office will upset all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate, the second chamber of the US House of Representatives. Numerous governorships and other important offices in the states are also voted on.
