A nose ahead in the chancellor preference, but a disadvantage compared to his predecessor: Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) gets a damper in the current “Trendbarometer” from RTL / ntv.
When it comes to the chancellor, Olaf Scholz is not fooling anyone at the moment, which is good news for the incumbent. The bad: His predecessor, Angela Merkel, is considered far more determined and decisive.
This is a result of the , according to which Scholz can even improve his value in the chancellor preference by one percentage point compared to the previous week, but has received a damper from the voters with regard to his previous administration:
- If those entitled to vote could elect the Chancellor directly, SPD politician Scholz (22 percent) would be the leader in a theoretical constellation with CDU leader Friedrich Merz and the Green Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck (both 20 percent). Even in a theoretical choice between Green Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Merz (both 22 percent), Scholz (25 percent) would have the edge.
- With regard to the previous leadership in the Ukraine and energy crisis, however, only 11 percent of Germans have the impression that Scholz acts more decisively and decisively than his predecessor Merkel from the CDU. According to the survey, 51 percent said Scholz acted less decisively and decisively than Merkel. 35 percent would see no big difference between Scholz’ and Merkel’s administration.
