It should also go to help for the bombed energy infrastructure. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Tuesday that the alliance would not let up in its support for Ukraine: “In order to create the conditions for a lasting peace that will ensure that Ukraine asserts itself as an independent sovereign state, we must continue to support Ukraine militarily. So our message from Bucharest is that NATO will stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes; we will not back down.” Foreign ministers from Sweden and Finland will also take part in the meeting in Bucharest. Both countries want to join NATO, and with the exception of Hungary and Turkey, all alliance partners have now agreed. On Monday, the foreign ministers of Sweden and Finland, together with representatives of the Baltic and Scandinavian countries, attended a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv. The Ukrainian President had warned his people ahead of another brutal week of cold and darkness amid Russian attacks. In the Kharkiv region, workers were busy repairing railway tracks destroyed by the war. According to the authorities, the repair work has been going on for more than a month.
