Qatar is now supplying gas to Germany after all. That’s the news of the day. Ironically, during the controversial football World Cup in the equally controversial Emirate of Qatar, the state energy giant Qatar Energy signed an agreement on liquid gas supplies to Germany. The gas is to be sold to the US company Conoco Phillips, which will continue to deliver it to Brunsbüttel from 2026 – i.e. to where a first provisional terminal is being built these days at the behest of the Green Minister for Economic Affairs.
