This was announced by Transport Minister Leonore Gewessler (Green) together with the three governors in Vienna. Advance sales of the network ticket previously planned as a 1-2-3 ticket will start tomorrow, October 1st.
“The waiting time is now over – the air-conditioning ticket is complete,” enthused Gewessler. In mid-August, the head of department had already announced that the now mentioned Climate Ticket Now will definitely be valid from the national holiday – if necessary even without the heavily populated Verkehrsverbund Ostregion (VOR). At that time there had already been more than 40 rounds of negotiations with the VOR, and an agreement was initially not foreseeable. Shortly before the planned advance booking of the ticket, things went quickly.
From the start of advance sales on Friday until the national holiday, the Austria-wide card costs 949 instead of 1,095 euros for one year. For everyone under 26 and for seniors there is a reduction of 821 euros, with the 15 percent discount at the start it is 699 euros.
The current climate ticket is considered a prestige project of the Greens and is also part of the government program with the VP. However, it is now being implemented differently than planned. Originally, the network card was planned with three levels as a 1-2-3 ticket. It was planned in the 3-stage to be able to drive 1,095 euros in the whole country with all ffis. It was also planned to be able to travel one euro per day in one federal state (365 euros) and two euros per day in one and the neighboring federal state (730 euros).
The federal states are not on board with the 365 euros per year – with the exception of Vienna. In Vorarlberg, for example, the regional federal map costs 385 euros, in Salzburg 595 euros and in Tyrol 509.40 euros. The most expensive is Upper Austria, where the ticket costs 695 euros for the entire state. With the agreement that has now been reached – as requested by the two federal states – Burgenland and Lower Austria will become one region. The state ticket for this will cost 550 euros in the future. In addition, a joint ticket is offered in the eastern region – for 915 euros a year. Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland start with regional tickets.
With the Klimaticket Now it is possible to use all regular transport (public and private rail transport, city transport and transport associations) in a certain area. It will be available in advance sales from October 1st at www.klimaticket.at, at all BB and Westbahn counters and also at all sales outlets of the participating associations.
