Another quick poll for the ARD “Germany trend” confirms: Germans prefer an SPD-led government to a Jamaica alliance under the Union. 51 percent trust a coalition of the SPD, Greens and FDP to make a new political start.
The latest lightning poll by the opinion research institute infratest dimap confirms once again that the Germans want an SPD-led alliance with Olaf Scholz as Chancellor. According to the ARD “Deutschlandtrend”, every second respondent most likely believes that a traffic light coalition made up of the SPD, Greens and FDP will make a new political start.
18 percent see a new beginning in a Jamaica alliance of CDU / CSU, Greens and FDP. A further 24 percent do not recognize this in either of the two three-party alliances. The supporters of the Greens were most likely to speak out in favor of a traffic light coalition. FDP supporters also tend to expect a new beginning in the traffic light coalition in the “Germany trend”.
Scholz is to become chancellor and Laschet to step down as CDU chairman
50 percent of all respondents consider Olaf Scholz (SPD) to be a good chancellor. 30 percent disagree. Another 20 percent could not give an estimate. According to the ARD “Deutschlandtrend”, he is at a similar point to Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) in September 2005. At that time, 48 percent were of the opinion that she would be a good chancellor.
After the historically poor election result for the Union in the federal elections, a majority is calling for Armin Laschet to resign from the CDU chairmanship. Two thirds of the respondents are of this opinion, as the WDR announced. 60 percent of his own party supporters also think that he should resign.
Only around one in four respondents would like Laschet to remain party chairman. According to the survey, a moderate 36 percent of CDU supporters are also in favor of keeping his office.
Traffic light coalition becomes more likely
Union parliamentary group vice Carsten Linnemann considers the formation of a coalition of the SPD, Greens and FDP to be likely. “The probability that there will be a traffic light is not only obvious, but is very large,” said the CDU politician on Friday in the ARD “Morgenmagazin”. “The SPD won the election,” one has to admit. In the event that the SPD, the Greens and the FDP cannot agree, he also considers a Jamaica alliance under the leadership of the Union to be possible. But the ball lies with the SPD, “not with us”.
Green party leader Katrin Göring-Eckardt is less optimistic about the talks. She expects tough negotiations. Nobody should pretend “as if we were already throwing cotton balls at each other,” said Göring-Eckardt on Thursday in the ZDF program “maybrit illner”.
