No German vaccination certificate after vaccination with Sputnik

There is a lack of approval in Germany and a corresponding recommendation from the Paul Ehrlich Institute, as the Hessian Administrative Court (VGH) in Kassel decided in an urgent decision announced on Friday.

The applicant had been vaccinated with Sputnik V in Moscow in May and then again in San Marino in July. He coveted the issue of a German vaccination certificate from the Fulda district. The district refused – and rightly so, as the VGH decided.

The requirements for proof of vaccination are not met. According to the Corona Protective Measures Exception Ordinance, the vaccination certificate should only be issued for vaccinations with a vaccine that is publicly listed by the Paul Ehrlich Institute.

However, Sputnik V is not approved in Germany and is therefore not listed among the recommended vaccines by the Paul Ehrlich Institute. Even EU law does not oblige Germany to issue the vaccination certificate, emphasized the Kassel judges.
