The Republican applied to a Florida district court on Friday to use an injunction to force the short message service to unblock his account. The company was “forced” by members of the US Congress to block its account, it said in Trump’s statement.
In addition, Twitter wields a level of power and control over US political discourse that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented and deeply dangerous to open democratic debate. Twitter, Facebook and other online networks had trumped after the storming of the US Capitol by supporters of the Republican on January 6th for inciting violence.
Trump is accused of instigating the storming of the congress building in Washington and thus violating the rules of online networks. This also applies to his unproven allegations of electoral fraud, which he had also made at a rally immediately before the storm on the Capitol without any evidence. Twitter did not want to comment on Trump’s legal action, which the Bloomberg news agency first reported.
Before he was blocked by Twitter, Trump had more than 88 million followers there and used the short message service as a political mouthpiece. In July Trump sued Twitter, Facebook and the Google and YouTube mother Alphabet and their bosses for bias because the three companies were suppressing conservative positions.
