He sees this as a disadvantage for city dwellers, who cause less CO2 but have higher housing costs than the rural population. For this they are punished by the turquoise-green federal government. The mayor does not understand that Linz is also on the same level as district cities.
For him it is “simply not understandable” according to which criteria the climate bonus classification was made, he had not received any valid data from the federal government. Perhaps it is like the Corona traffic light, the “circuit of which is unknown”, is how he ventures his anger as head of the city. He is also angry that “CO2 sinners” like house builders in the country who “seal the ground” and “commute to the city by car every day” are rewarded.
For him, the plans of the federal government mean nothing more than: ‘Whoever causes more CO2 gets more money’. Luger calls this a “shield bourgeois prank”. If the federal government really wants to promote climate protection, then a city flat rate should be created to compensate for higher living costs.
