This is the Green’s proposal to the FDP, said co-party leader Annalena Baerbock on Wednesday in Berlin. After the federal elections, the Greens and the FDP first explored possible compromise lines for one or the other three-party coalition, first together and then separately with the SPD (“traffic light”) as well as with the CDU and CSU (“Jamaica”).
Germany could not afford a long hangover, said Baerbock. It should start quickly with the SPD and FDP. Greens co-party leader Robert Habeck added that in a traffic light government alliance, the content overlaps would be greatest.
According to Habeck, the proposal for explorations with the SPD and FDP does not represent a complete rejection of a Jamaica alliance made up of the Union, FDP and the Greens. The Union has really tried and accommodated the Greens. But there are major differences in a Jamaica alliance “on our part,” said Habeck. At the same time, there are still significant vacancies and differences in matters of “traffic lights”, this affects both the Greens and the FDP as well as the Greens and the SPD.
Previously, indiscretion from the black-green meeting on Tuesday caused anger among the Greens. The “Bild” newspaper reported on statements by the Greens on the subjects of EU finances, migration and the exit from the internal combustion engine. The Greens then accused the conservative Union of breaching the agreed confidentiality. In addition to the Greens, the liberal FDP also wanted to meet for internal party talks on Wednesday morning. FDP General Secretary Volker Wissing had announced an interim conclusion of the explorations.
