Hesse: Frankfurt ex-OB Feldmann appeals the verdict

In a corruption trial, the former mayor was fined because of his relationship with the Awo. He now wants to take action against it.

After being convicted of taking advantage, former Frankfurt mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD) appealed against the judgment of the 24th Criminal Chamber of the Frankfurt Regional Court. A spokesman for the court said on Monday. Feldmann had previously reported on the revision in an email on Sunday.

The public prosecutor’s office, on the other hand, was satisfied with the outcome of the proceedings, even though the court’s verdict did not meet the fine demanded by the prosecutors. A spokeswoman said no appeals had been filed.

In December, Feldmann was sentenced to a fine of 120 daily rates of 175 euros in the corruption trial. The process was about Feldmann’s close ties to Arbeiterwohlfahrt (Awo). The politician had always denied being corrupt. Feldmann was – also as a consequence of the indictment and the process – on November 6th with a referendum voted out.
