Despite the decision to phase out coal, the resistance in the Rhenish lignite mining area does not want to end. Author Rolf-Herbert Peters thanks the climate activists for their commitment, but now it’s time to move on. They are needed elsewhere!
First of all, a heartfelt thank you to all the peaceable resisters in the Rhenish lignite mining area, who have been trying hard to stop the climate-damaging coal-fired power generation for years. Thanks to everyone who nested in the trees of the Hambach Forest to save the ancient forest from the lignite excavators. Thanks to all the residents of the surrounding villages, who fought bitterly against the demolition of their houses and churches, some of which were centuries old.
