VP regional chiefs in Vienna, stilts against attacks on justice

Vorarlberg’s governor Markus Wallner had previously said: He was too short, but “if it happened, it would have to take consequences”. Now the facts have to be on the table so that full clarification can be provided. And: “We in the countries have nothing to do with it.”

Frets close the rows

In the afternoon, the Tyrolean governor Günther Platter presented a note of solidarity from the nine VP state party leaders. They stand “united behind Sebastian Kurz” and assume “that the criminally relevant allegations will turn out to be false”. In the current situation, they consider “a stable federal government with Kurz at the top to be very important”.

Upper Austria’s governor Thomas Stelzer said when asked about the massive criticism of the federal VP of the judiciary in the days before the raids (“left cells” in the WKStA): “In the last few months I have emphasized several times that I do not believe in it when the judiciary is targeted by political attacks. ” He had “great confidence in the judiciary” and was also convinced that they should now “be allowed to work in peace,” said Stelzer.

Like the regional leaders, the VP sub-organizations have closed their ranks for short. Ingrid Korosec, President of the Seniors’ Union, said that he was the spokeswoman for the Bundestag leaders: “Sebastian Kurz has our full support and enjoys our trust.”
