Leipzig: Accusations of anti-Semitism: Ofarim wants to file a complaint

Gil Ofarim has made serious allegations against a Leipzig hotel. Now the musician also wants to file a complaint.

After the anti-Semitism allegations against the hotel “The Westin Leipzig”, the musician Gil Ofarim wants to file charges in the coming week “for all possible offenses”, as his management announced. First, the “Bild” newspaper reported. Ofarim therefore wants to testify as a witness.

So far, in connection with the incident, the police had received an online complaint from an uninvolved third party for sedition. In addition, the accused hotel employee had filed charges of defamation and threat. Leipzig’s police spokesman Olaf Hoppe had said that the incident was “clearly different from the artist’s statements.”

Ofarim had described in a video that a hotel employee asked him on Monday evening to remove his chain with a Star of David. Ofarim is the son of the Israeli musician Abi Ofarim (1937-2018) and grew up in Germany.
