Everyone wants a new government in place soon. The “traffic light” parties seem to be moving forward well and quickly. But we cannot know whether this is really the case, as nothing will leak out. It doesn’t work that way in the long run.
We wanted it that way. Weren’t we always annoyed by the constant chatter on the talk shows, the clever weekend remarks of the backbenchers and the well-worn “red lines” or “someone-warns-of-something” remarks? Didn’t we wish that politics would finally come back to the matter (s) and not talk about everything publicly until nothing is clear anymore? Well then we have the salad now.
We already knew the Scholzomat, who with an expressionless face knows nothing to say wordily. But now suddenly a Baerbockomat, a Lindneromat and a few other Speechomats appear -. One could almost believe that the “traffic light” is already there and Olaf Scholz is already setting the tone. Is that supposed to be the communication style of the coming government? Many words, nothing said? That can be cheerful.
If you don’t say anything, you win
But, as I said: we wanted it that way. Who was the winner? Someone who also offered no surface to attack verbally. Hitting and stinging between Laschet and Söder versus noiseless decision on the candidacy for chancellor between Habeck and Baerbock – a lot of praise for the Greens, head shaking at the CDU / CSU. Confidential explorations by most of the parties versus piercing the tabloid press from talks with the Union – the Union is “annoying”. Note: If you don’t say anything or don’t commit yourself, you win. Backroom politics in front of the general public, and that with public approval.
But that can’t be it. Well, if a government capable of acting emerges so quickly, then it should have been worth it to us this time. But one or the other speaks of a “new style of politics” that creates a lot of trust. However, not in the long run with the voters. Working in a results-oriented manner is good; just presenting results is not democratic enough. We have a right to know how important political decisions are made and what who, (allegedly) on our behalf, enforces or gives up. Democracy also includes transparency and the traceability of compromises. “Let’s do it, then it’ll work out” is not possible in the long run.
Traffic light exploration: secrecy must end soon
Next week, the total of 26 explorers from the SPD, Greens and FDP want to “go deeper,” it says. Then the secrecy must gradually come to an end. But we don’t want to hear “That can’t be done with them” or “We’d like to, but”, but rather “We agree on this” and “There are problems that we work on in one way or another “. All this in lively words and without frozen facial expressions. And yes, it should be about the matter (s). So we wanted that.
