According to British intelligence, Russia intends to use T-14 Armata tanks in its war of aggression against Ukraine. But the use of this combat vehicle would not be without risk.
According to British military experts, Moscow is considering using its latest T-14 Armata main battle tanks in Ukraine. This emerges from the daily intelligence update on the Ukraine war from the Ministry of Defense in London. According to this, the most modern Russian tanks could be seen in pictures at a training ground in southern Russia, where troops are being prepared for deployment in Ukraine.
A possible use of the tanks, which have not yet been taken into regular service, is a high-risk decision, according to the British statement. The development of the tank has been accompanied by difficulties and delays, and it is larger and heavier than other tanks and could therefore pose problems for the supply lines.
“If Russia uses the T-14, it will be primarily for propaganda purposes. Production is likely to be in the low double digits and commanders may not trust the vehicle on the battlefield,” the statement continued.
The British Ministry of Defense has published daily information on the course of the war since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine at the end of February, citing intelligence information. In doing so, the British government wants to both counter the Russian portrayal and keep allies in line. Moscow accuses London of a targeted disinformation campaign.
