A new arrest warrant has been issued against the 32-year-old suspect, which now also includes the preparation of a serious act of violence that is dangerous to the state, said a spokesman for the Düsseldorf public prosecutor’s office. An arrest warrant has been requested for his 25-year-old brother, and a decision will probably be made next week.

The defense attorneys for the two Iranians had requested detention reviews to take place on Thursday and Friday, but withdrew them. The brothers remain in custody. The arrest warrants were initially issued for conspiring to commit a crime, namely murder.

The two were arrested by a special task force on the night of January 7th. According to earlier investigators, they are said to have tried to get cyanide and ricin to murder people. A report sent out by the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Justice on Monday shows that the two are said to have originally planned an attack on New Year’s Eve on behalf of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia. The suspects had therefore talked via Telegram that they were still missing iron powder. He’s gotten a bit in the meantime, the 32-year-old finally wrote on January 7 shortly before the raid.

Manufactured toxins have still not been found, the spokesman for the Attorney General emphasized on Friday. “We also don’t assume that there are,” he said. However, raw materials for the production of poison were found, and secured data also substantiated the allegation.
