VP attacks: “Greens and SP sell their own soul for a pact with Kickl”

SPÖ chairwoman Pamela Rendi-Wagner was “an absolute no-go” as future chancellor, warned ÖVP club chairman August Wöginger in a broadcast on Saturday. This had previously brought itself into play as a possible head of government and even did not reject the FPÖ as a political partner. Agriculture Minister Elisabeth Köstinger (ÖVP) also warned against this constellation.

Cooperation with FP for SP possible

On Friday evening on ORF- “ZiB2”, Rendi-Wagner said that she would also be available as Federal Chancellor if she could make a contribution to more stability in the country. A collaboration with the FPÖ that was unlikely for them, but still possible – a variant that was previously unthinkable in the SPÖ – was justified by the current extraordinary situation. Rendi-Wagner does not assume that, for example, Corona measures critic and FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl would be the health minister of such a government.

“Greens and SP sell their own soul”

The ÖVP gladly took up the statements of the SPÖ chairwoman. “Greens and the SPÖ are heading straight into chaos with their volts and are selling their own soul and the country for a pact with Herbert Kickl,” stated Köstinger, who of course was once part of a turquoise-blue coalition with Kickl as interior minister. The remaining coalition partner of the ÖVP caused “conscious chaos” with his behavior and endangered the political stability of the country, said Köstinger. The ÖVP, on the other hand, is ready to continue government work, Köstinger repeated the current public party line.

Wöginger: “Rendi-Wagner completely controversial”

Wöginger explicitly warned against a possible Chancellor Rendi-Wagner. The SPÖ chairman was “completely controversial” even in her own party, said the turquoise club chairman. In addition, she has shown time and again in the past few months “that for her only political party interests come first”.

SP locates a denial of reality

The SPÖ countered immediately and sent out Federal Managing Director Christian Deutsch: “The turquoise circle of power suffers from a denial of reality when it thinks it can just go on as before,” said Deutsch in a broadcast. “Turquoise is bunkering and is taking its own party and the whole of Austria hostage,” he criticized. “In short, Köstinger, Wöginger and Co. stand for the moral decline of the turquoise ÖVP, for which decency, respect and responsibility have long been foreign words.” Kurz must resign immediately. The “reasonable forces in the ÖVP” should “break away from this allegedly corrupt system Kurz”, recommended Deutsch.
