No sooner had the traffic light parties presented their proposal for reforming electoral law than the Union broke away from its previous concept, trench electoral law, and presented a new idea. To the amazement of the SPD: “For us, it’s a last-ditch panic if the Union now wants to cut ten additional constituencies,” says Sebastian Hartmann from the SPD parliamentary group. The Union counters: “The traffic light proposal is unconstitutional,” says Alexander Hoffmann from the CSU.
