He criticizes the position of the Federal SP not to rule out a coalition with the FP.
Short castling: comparison with Putin
He would have expected a complete withdrawal from politics from Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, whose understanding of democracy is “very questionable”, so Doskozil in the “Presse” (Monday edition). “It reminds me of Russia and Putin, who made way for Medvedev and then came back”, the governor stated that Kurz still has all the threads in hand: “In reality, it’s all about maintaining power.” Even the strategy of the Greens can Doskozil not understand, because: “They are now the stirrup holder for a party that will subsequently sink into the corruption swamp.”
SP strategy: “That wasn’t clever”
However, he once again criticizes the Federal SP. “There were supporters and opponents of the multi-party coalition. The supporters were in the majority, so that was the line of the SP. It is already documented that I was against it. And I do not want to deny that.” The fact that the SP would now have been ready to work with the FP under Herbert Kickl is a “massive credibility problem” for them: “We have damaged ourselves as much as the Greens by allowing Kurz to implement the Putin model. That was clever not.”
In his opinion, an “offensive strategy” would have been the best, but he expects a new election in 2022 anyway, as he explained on ORF Burgenland. It was a “unique chance to win elections again and to appoint the Federal Chancellor,” said Doskozil in the “press” interview. “Everyone in the SP should think about how we can reposition ourselves. The last few days have certainly not been a strategic masterpiece and this process has to start now.”
Regarding the WKStA’s investigations against him because of alleged false statements in the Commerzialbank-U-Committee, the governor affirmed that he would resign immediately in the event of an indictment. But he doesn’t think so anyway.
