This fake video is spreading on social media.
The clip is said to show a billboard with tanks in Berlin. This is obviously Russian propaganda.
The video shows two tanks and the years 1943 and 2022 – along with the writing “Maybe not again?”.
Apparently, this is intended to draw a parallel between the Nazi era and the tank deliveries to Ukraine.
Some users spread the clip with the claim that the Germans want to remind the government of the crimes of the Nazi regime and the associated consequences.
But the video was never shown on this billboard, which is actually in Berlin.
The operating company, Limes, explained to the Correctiv fact checkers that it was a fake.
If you look closely, you can see that in the video. Because the reflections on the street don’t match the video on the billboard. The tarmac flickers colorfully, reflecting movement, even if it doesn’t in the tank video.
The video is intended to give the impression that the decision to supply tanks to Ukraine has no backing from the Germans.
However, according to a quick survey by the opinion research institute Forsa for RTL and NTV, 53 percent of German citizens think the procedure is the right one.
