At his address to the chambers of Congress, the US President is expecting important guests, including those affected by police violence and gun violence – two conflict issues that are keeping the country in suspense.
The White House released a list of invited guests ahead of Joe Biden’s State of the Union address. They include the mother and stepfather of Tyre Nichols, an African American man who was beaten to death by Memphis police in January.
Brandon Tsay, who snatched the gun from a shooter in a shooting in the state of California in January and thus presumably prevented further bloodshed, is also expected. Holocaust survivor Ruth Cohen and Bono, frontman of Irish rock band U2, will also be present at the speech, sources said.
After attack: Paul Pelosi is expected
Biden will address both chambers of the US Congress in Washington at 9 p.m. local time (3 a.m. CET, Wednesday).
Among the guests at the White House is said to be Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He was severely injured in the head by a burglar with a hammer in October. The attacker was actually targeting Democrat Pelosi, but did not find her.
