The accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO has been delayed. The reason is the upset between Ankara and Stockholm. The Finns could therefore consider going into NATO without their neighboring country. But that would have consequences.

The topic at this meeting of the two heads of government at the beginning of February was the long-running issue between the two countries: joining NATO.
The NATO states actually want the two northern European countries to be part of the military alliance. In May 2022, Sweden and Finland decided to join the alliance in view of the Russian war against Ukraine – after decades of alliance neutrality.
