During her visit to Finland, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock promoted the construction of German civil defense bunkers and the delivery of Finnish Leopard tanks.
The German Foreign Minister descended ten floors down a steel staircase deep into the Finnish underground. Above is Merihaka, a district of the capital Helsinki, below, at the end of a long tunnel, Annalena Baerbock meets children, men and women playing indoor hockey. It goes past one, two, three sports halls, there is a gym, a café, an indoor playground – and large, blue steel gates, more than 30 centimeters thick. In an emergency, they should protect against a pressure wave. Or from gas.
