In September, the traffic light coalition had already agreed on a 200-euro special payment for students and technical students in view of the high energy costs. Now it should finally start – at least in theory.
From March 15, students and technical students should be able to apply for the long-awaited 200 euro energy price flat rate. All federal states had agreed on the uniform start for this, said the State Chancellery of Saxony-Anhalt. The federal state has developed the digital platform, which is to be used by around 3.5 million people who are entitled to apply nationwide.
Some federal states want to test the process in real operation beforehand. It is still unclear when the money will actually be in the account of those affected. Federal Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger had previously noted that the federal states are now responsible for implementing the energy price flat rate. “We’ve done our homework and I hope that the federal states will now take responsibility for doing their homework quickly,” said the FDP politician.
According to the Federal Ministry of Education, the platform could be launched as early as February. Ultimately, the federal states would have to decide whether to wait until all 16 federal states were ready to go or whether to allow applications to be submitted individually.
Criticism from Bavaria: the federal government needed “enormous tutoring”
Headwind came from Bavaria – the states would take any hurdle that the federal government put in their way, said Science Minister Markus Blume (CSU) of the German Press Agency. “The fact that there is already a payment platform at all is only thanks to the state of Saxony-Anhalt and the cooperation of the states. The tutoring that the federal government has needed here in the last few months has been enormous.”
The students and technical students need a BundID account for identification for the application. With the start of the procedure, they should automatically receive access data for the application platform www.einmalzahlen200.de from their training institution. There you enter your account details. The platform should also be able to be used for other future federal payments to citizens.
