Ilka Bessin is a comedian, actress, dubbing spokeswoman, used to be “Cindy from Marzahn” and is now part of the team for the satirical program RTL Top News. And for some time now she has been using her attention to draw attention to the care crisis in Germany. Since her father became a need for long-term care himself some time ago and finally passed away, she has known about the situation in German care facilities. Only those who have experienced something like this can change things, says Bessin. “Politicians do not have the feeling that they have been poor or that they are living on the subsistence level, so in my opinion nothing will change in that regard.”

While the series continues to break records on Netflix, it tragically appears to have found imitators in reality. Several cases are now known. According to media reports, school children in Belgium re-enacted the series and literally beat up the losers in their version. The school management then contacted the pupils’ parents via Facebook. Similar scenes are said to have taken place in Great Britain.
