The 3G rule is to apply in the gastronomy of Luxembourg in the future. Because of his corona policy, Premier Bettel is facing massive threats.
The Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel says he has received death threats because of his corona policy.
Police protection for him had to be strengthened, he said in front of the parliament in Luxembourg City. The threats are apparently a reaction to increased pressure from the government on vaccinators.
“What we proposed last week, we did not do it out of joke and frolic,” said Bettel. On October 8th, he presented plans to allow access to gastronomy only for vaccinated, convalescent and tested people in the future. Self-tests are no longer sufficient, certified tests are necessary – at your own expense.
Bettel was told in the threats: “That they want to kill me or are looking for a bullet and a weapon”. He wanted to spare the MPs “the most unpleasant things I have received in the last few days”. He added: “Just know that people are telling me, ‘Stop these vaccinations, we’ve heard this enough, we don’t want to hear about it’.”
To justify the measures, it was said that Luxembourg could not risk overloading the health system. “We are aware that we are making the life of unvaccinated people more uncomfortable with these measures,” Bettel said last Friday. “But we have no choice.”
