How these will look exactly is still open, one will discuss with experts from the federal government, said governor Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ) on Friday at a press conference in Oberwart. A balance was drawn about the use in the BITZ.
At the end of summer, the fourth wave of infections was still being discussed intensively, but there are currently no corona patients in the intensive care unit in Burgenland. “At the moment we can draw a positive balance,” said Doskozil, the path taken in Burgenland is working, the measures are supported by the population.
“The lottery will take place”
To achieve the goal of 10,000 additional vaccinations by the national holiday on November 11th, around 2,400 stitches are still missing. “In any case, we will achieve our goal and the lottery will take place,” emphasized Doskozil. What will then be implemented in Burgenland will be discussed with federal experts. However, he said that easing steps could come in stages and that the mask requirement should be discussed. “We want to realize noticeable easing. The figures prove us right and show that the path was the right one. People also have to feel that they did the right thing.” In addition to vaccination, testing is the second important factor, because there are vaccination breakthroughs and those who are fully immunized can infect themselves and others with corona.
As for the federal government’s corona bonus, which is now due to be paid out in December, the governor said he learned about it from the media. Burgenland reacted earlier and already paid bonuses to those who come into daily contact with corona patients in hospitals. This is an appreciation for a group of people who are confronted with a higher risk.
Vaccination and test centers closed
The seven vaccination and test centers in Burgenland (BITZ) were closed on September 30th and replaced by new vaccination and test offers. As part of the PK, the governor thanked the Armed Forces, the Samaritan Association and the Red Cross as well as the Social Services Burgenland GmbH, who were involved in the implementation. Since it was commissioned in January 2021, over a million rapid antigen tests and around 38,000 PCR tests have been carried out there. Almost 153,000 Covid-19 vaccinations were given. Some days more than 7,000 people were tested and up to 8,000 were vaccinated each vaccination weekend. The Red Cross reported about 85,000 hours worked, the armed forces 115,000 man hours. The soldiers also transported 540,000 test kits to the deployment sites.
In October there are vaccination Sundays at all district authorities without registration (17th, 24th and 31st), there are also vaccination days for booster vaccinations without registration. In November, in cooperation with the Education Directorate, vaccinations will also be carried out in schools, by doctors or the mobile vaccination teams.
