Finally back to budget negotiations: Finance Minister Christian Lindner likes the talks in which every single budget for the coming year is being wrestled with. He will still have to negotiate down many ministers.
To put it mildly, the last state elections were not particularly successful for the FDP. Nevertheless, one can imagine Christian Lindner as a happy person. The next two weeks, he thinks, are the most beautiful in a finance minister’s annual calendar. Finally budget negotiations again.
Lindner receives, the colleagues come. One after the other, first Social Affairs Minister Hubertus Heil, who has to defend the largest chunk, then the other ministers. They all have to audition, bring good arguments, fight for their department. Someone might even have to show up twice. After all, it’s about a lot of money.
