Multinational flight exercise: German and Israeli fighter jets fly over Jerusalem

The German Air Force is taking part in a multinational flight exercise with six Eurofighters and around 160 soldiers. At the beginning, German and Israeli fighter jets flew over Jerusalem together.

In a symbolic gesture, fighter jets from the German and Israeli air forces flew over Jerusalem together. The four planes were also shown in pictures over Israel’s parliament, the Knesset.

This marked the beginning of the largest international flight exercise to date in Israel, in which Germany, Italy, Great Britain, France, India, Greece and the USA also take part.

The joint flight over Jerusalem expresses “a strong partnership and connection between the air forces and the countries, as well as a commitment to continue cooperation in the future,” said the Israeli army.

According to the information, the air force chiefs of Germany and Israel, Ingo Gerhartz and Amikam Norkin, previously visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem.

The German Air Force is taking part with six Eurofighters and around 160 soldiers in the multinational Blue Flag flight exercise, which is supposed to last until October 28th.
