The “daily press” withdraws the lawsuit brought against VP politician Andreas Hanger in August. “There is a mammoth task ahead of the judiciary: draining the turquoise swamp. To do this, it needs all the capacities available to it”, the satirical portal left on its website on Monday with reference to the current investigations in the environment of ex-Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (VP) to know.
The online magazine had accused Hanger of “immoral competition” after submitting several press releases because he claimed to be a politician, but was in fact a satirist. With the campaign, the online satellite magazine wanted to draw attention to the advertising policy of the federal government and to criticize its donations of millions to the tabloid media. According to its own statements, the “daily press” itself received 712.58 euros in government advertisements “via an advertising network”.
Via the lawsuit, the satirical portal wanted to ensure that at least its share goes back to the taxpayer. Because the court costs for a lawsuit at the commercial court amount to 792 euros and are thus roughly the same as the money received for advertisements. The “daily press” now says that the amount of 712.58 euros had already been returned with the rejection of the application for an interim injunction, “which has already fulfilled the original intention of our lawsuit”.
