The Economic and Corruption Public Prosecutor’s Office (WKStA) is to investigate the case around the former Asfinag supervisory board Siegfried Stieglitz against the former FPÖ chairman Heinz-Christian Strache as a suspect. Specifically, according to media reports, it is about the allegation of bribery.
The Ibiza investigation committee had already dealt with another aspect of the Stieglitz case: Before being appointed to the ASFINAG supervisory board, the real estate entrepreneur donated a total of 10,000 euros to the FPÖ association Austria in Motion. From chats it emerges that Stieglitz, ex-FPÖ boss Strache and the then liberal infrastructure minister Norbert Hofer agreed that Stieglitz would be appointed to a supervisory board at his insistence. Hofer had already been extradited by the National Council for this reason.

The new aspect around the allegations against Stieglitz was first reported by “profil”, then also by “Presse” and “Standard”, all of which quoted from the entrepreneur’s interrogation protocols. So both were Strache as well as Hofer have been invited to Dubai. Both are said to have ultimately canceled with reference to the compliance rules.
A confirmation of the investigations was not given either by the WKStA or by the APA Lost Page. Lost Lawyer Johann Pauer described the new allegations against his client in the “press” as “completely wrong”. Confirmed chat histories would clearly show that between Strache and Stieglitz are on friendly terms.
