The police were reportedly made aware of the incident by witnesses. A 50 and a 52 year old visitor from Finland finally admitted on Sunday that they had shown the Hitler salute and meant it as a joke. A third man who was there took photos of the other two, it was said.
According to the police, the men said they did not know that the Hitler salute was forbidden in Germany. “But they might have got the idea that this is not welcome in Germany,” said a spokesman.
