Former US President Donald Trump wants to make himself heard again with his own social media platform. “We live in a world in which the Taliban have a huge presence on Twitter, but the American favorite president has been silenced. That is unacceptable,” said Trump on Thursday, referring to the permanent blocking of his account with the short message service. “I look forward to spreading the first truths on ‘Truth Social’ soon.” Behind the platform is a new, listed company that will result from the merger of Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) and Digital World Acquisition (DWAC), if the supervisory authorities and shareholders agree, according to the press release distributed by both partners. The growth plans are to be funded initially from DWAC’s trust assets of $ 293 million. Truth Social is planning a so-called beta launch for selected users in November, followed by a nationwide roll-out in the first quarter of 2022. A video-on-demand service with entertainment programs, news and podcasts is also planned for subscribers to the Trump channel. Twitter blocked Trump’s account in January after receiving multiple warnings for spreading fake news.
