Several Russian ships were navigating near the Nord Stream pipelines before the explosions and were photographed by the Danish Navy. What role they may have played in the attack remains unclear.
Four days before the explosions on the Nord Stream pipelines, a Danish patrol boat reportedly took 112 photos of Russian vessels near the pipelines. This emerges from the decision on an application for access to the files of the newspaper “Information” at the Danish Defense Command.

, the newspaper had requested access “to the pictures and video recordings of Russian vehicles” “taken on September 22, 2022 on board the ‘P524 Nymfen'”. The “Nymfen” is a Danish patrol boat.
“Information” was denied access to the files because of the ongoing investigation into the explosions. According to the newspaper, however, the defense command replied that “112 photos and no video recordings had been identified” in connection with the request for access to files.
At the end of September 2022, a total of four leaks in the two gas pipelines Nord Stream 1 and 2 were discovered as a result of explosions near the Danish Baltic Sea island of Bornholm. The authorities assume sabotage. It is unclear who is responsible for this. Investigations are ongoing in Germany, Sweden and Denmark.
