Two weeks after Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson was fired, reports of his questionable behavior continue. In a new video, Carlson can be seen during a commercial break. In it he makes lewd remarks to an employee.
Tucker Carlson was the mouthpiece of the American right and the most famous anchor of Fox News. Since he was kicked out, more and more details have come to light that could shed light on why the broadcaster has separated from his agitator. In a new video, Carlson can be seen being powdered by a makeup artist – apparently right before a live broadcast. The moderator promptly uses this to confront the woman with suggestive questions.
Tucker Carlson behind-the-scenes video shows him asking lewd questions to co-worker
The clip, which the American non-profit organization “Media Matters for America” published on Thursday and which the British “Guardian” distributes among others, shows Carlson in his studio while a woman makes final corrections to his mask. “May I ask you something?” Tucker begins unsuspiciously. “You don’t have to answer, it’s personal,” he continues. Without waiting for her answer, he goes on to ask, “When women go to the bathroom to ‘powder their noses,’ do they actually powder their noses?” “Sometimes,” replies his colleague. “Ooohhh. That sounds good,” Carlson continued.
Mostly it’s about the lipstick, so the woman. “Are there any pillow fights?” Carlson asks. Followed by the comment “You don’t have to… You don’t have to…” as if to say she doesn’t have to answer that. “Not in the toilet,” the make-up artist hisses back. “All right. It’s probably more of a dorm thing.” The woman laughs sheepishly.
This is followed by a half-baked apology from Carlson: “I’m sorry. You’re such a good person. You don’t deserve this. I mean it with the utmost affection.”
After that the video stops. It’s not Carlson’s first blunder on this subject. News recently surfaced in which the ex-host had made sexist remarks about women, including a Fox executive. It is unclear whether this also led to his home broadcaster finally kicking him out.
The series of scandals surrounding Carlson continues
Earlier this week, the New York Times reported a racist text message from Carlson that he is said to have sent to the producers of his TV show shortly after the attack on the Capitol. In it he describes how he shared his excitement when several demonstrators beat up an “Antifa child”. That news alone added to a growing number of internal problems Fox had with Carlson, the newspaper said. Whether dealing with his colleagues, as in the recently leaked video, is one of these problems can only be guessed at.
Ultimately, Fox management came to the conclusion that Carlson was more of a burden than an asset to the company, according to NYT. So far, Fox News has not commented on the reasons for Carlson’s dismissal.
