Watch the video: Ukraine reports deaths in Russian attack wave before commemoration day.

A day before celebrations marking the end of World War II in Russia, the Russian military launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine. According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army, civilians were again killed. On Monday night alone, 16 rocket attacks were counted, like here in the Odessa region. Attacks were also reported from Kharkiv, Cherson, Mykolaiv and the capital Kiev. According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, at least five people were injured there. In Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, which has been particularly hotly contested for months, Russia has intensified its actions at the front. These footage released on Sunday are said to show the destruction in the city. The Russian mercenary group Wagner had previously given up their threatened withdrawal from Bakhmut. Russian forces are deploying more modern equipment and redeploying their troops, General Olesksandr Syrskyj, Ukraine’s ground forces commander, said after a visit to the front. The Ukrainian armed forces would do everything to prevent the capture of Bakhmut by Russia. Meanwhile, preparations were underway in Moscow for Tuesday’s military parade to celebrate the Red Army’s victory over Nazi Germany in 1945. The event is considered particularly symbolic this year because President Vladimir Putin originally justified the invasion of Ukraine with the aim of allegedly wanting to fight a kind of new fascism there. The government in Kiev and its allies reject this as an excuse and accuse Russia of waging a war of aggression against the neighboring ex-Soviet republic. The government in Moscow speaks of a special military operation.
