The governor of the state of Florida submitted the necessary documents to the federal election commission on Wednesday. The Washington Post newspaper confirmed the application in the evening, citing a spokeswoman for the 44-year-old. Around midnight German time, DeSantis also announced the application on Twitter: “I’m running for President to lead the great American comeback”.
