Consumers: holiday season, building subsidies, culture pass: changes in June

In line with the beginning of the holiday season, a cultural program for young people is starting this month. Not the only good news June brings for consumers.

The Corona rules have been passé for some time. From June, the warning app to fight the pandemic will also go into sleep mode. What else is changing this month – an overview:

Changed passenger rights

Changes to the rights of rail passengers will take effect on June 7th. There are scenarios in which the right to compensation does not apply. This includes extraordinary circumstances that are beyond the railway company’s control, such as extreme weather, people on the tracks or cable theft. As the market leader, Deutsche Bahn has announced that the innovations will not affect the vast majority of its customers.

Building subsidies for families

A new building subsidy will be available from June for families with low and medium incomes. Families with an annual income of up to EUR 60,000 plus EUR 10,000 per child are eligible. 350 million euros per year are available for the program of the state development bank KfW with low-interest loans.

Culture pass for young people

The app for the nationwide culture pass will be launched in mid-June. Young people in Germany who turn 18 this year can use the app to buy tickets worth 200 euros for cultural events such as cinema, concerts and theatre, as well as books, sound carriers and musical instruments.

“Tatort” summer break

The last new Sunday thriller before the summer break comes from Stuttgart on June 18 (“Tatort: ​​The Night of the Commissars”). From August 27th it will probably continue with new “crime scenes”.

Corona app in sleep mode

In view of the more relaxed corona situation, the warning app will go into “sleep mode” on June 1st. It will no longer be updated for the time being. But you can keep them on your cell phone to continue using electronic vaccination certificates.

Holiday season

The summer holiday season begins in Germany. NRW will start this year on June 22nd. Accordingly, one should expect more traffic on motorways, on the train and at airports. Traditionally, Bavaria comes last: the last day of vacation there is on September 11th.

closed pharmacies

If you want to buy something in a pharmacy on June 14th, you may find yourself in front of closed doors. The industry association Abda has called on pharmacists to protest against the federal government’s health policy on this day.

Some branches of Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof are closing

The department store group will close some branches on June 30 as part of a company restructuring. Another wave of closures is to follow on January 31st.

Military exercise “Air Defender”

25 nations with around 240 aircraft are taking part in the Air Force exercise “Air Defender 23” from June 12th to 23rd. According to the Bundeswehr, scheduled airliners and holiday planes are hardly affected. Most flights are to take place over the North and Baltic Seas.
